We continue, after a break of a few weeks, with the topic of casting bread upon the waters. Today, we are going to get into some practical applications–particularly with reference to Ecclesiastes 11:2.
Here’s a brief excerpt from the sermon, with a link to the full audio immediately thereafter:
“I’d like to take this verse, break it into two parts: first ‘give a portion to seven and also to eight.’ The theme there clearly is abundance. Abundance. What is seven, as a number, in the scriptures? It represents completion. Seven is the number of fullness–completion. Seven days in a week, for example. So this is a number that represents give all. Give all the time; fill up all the time.
In fact, the way the Hebrew is written there, it could be read this way: ‘Seven days a week and then roll over to the eighth day.’”
