Pastor Rick Schuurmans is a native of Tyndall, South Dakota. He holds bachelor and master degrees in English from the University of South Dakota and a master of divinity degree from Covington Theological Seminary in Rossville, Georgia. He spent numerous years as a university and seminary instructor and in public relations and management activities before accepting the call to the ministry when in his late 30s. He is now in his eighteenth year at Grace Baptist Church. He has high regard for the power of the Scriptures and loves teaching them and serving people.

Pastor Schuurmans and his wife of many years, Carol, homeschool their children.
