Pastor Simeon Counterman
Pastor Simeon Counterman grew up on the East Coast, living in upstate New York and Maryland before going off to Wisconsin for Bible college. There he met his wife, Bonnie, and God impressed a burden on his heart for full-time ministry.
While pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, he served in local churches, helping in youth and music ministry, as well as completing his Master’s degree in Biblical counseling. He later served as an assistant pastor in New Jersey for 5 years, while completing his Master of Divinity degree.
Most recently, he served for 15 years as senior pastor in Southeast Iowa, adding chaplaincy work to his ministry. He has served as a volunteer chaplain with law enforcement (local, county, and state), with the fire department, and also as a reserve chaplain in the U.S. Air Force.
Pastor Counterman has a great desire to fulfill Ephesians 4:12, perfecting and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. It has been his ongoing prayer and effort to see young men rise up from the church to go into full-time service for the Lord.
Pastor Counterman and his wife, Bonnie, have been married for 23 years, and have four children: Azriel, Titus, Kezia, and Timothy.
Pastor Counterman’s Personal Testimony of Salvation:
One Thursday evening in January, 1986 after special meetings concluded at our church, I found myself under conviction and fear through the work of the Holy Spirit through the teaching of the Word of God. Tossing in bed and unable to sleep, I got up to speak with my parents. That night after my dad explained further my sinful condition and need for a Savior, I prayed and asked God to forgive me of my sin and for Jesus to be my Savior.
